MARRAKECH CLIMATE
It’s no coincidence that so many golf courses have been built in Marrakech. With the same latitude as the Canary Islands and over 300 sunny days per year with bright blue skies, play is pretty much guaranteed all year round. Marrakech is typically 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the UK so perfect for a golf break in winter.
BEST TIME FOR GOLF
The golf season in Marrakech runs from late September to June when the temperatures and courses are ideal. Although the courses are still open, July and August can be very, very hot (over 40 degrees) and it’s only really the very few that venture out as even early in the morning the temperature can still be in the high 30’s. For 18 holes, a trip to the cooler coastal courses around 3 hours away is probably a better experience in these months which can be arranged from Marrakech. We think January and February is a great time to spend a few days golfing in Marrakech when it can be very damp and chilly in the UK.
DOES IT RAIN?
Yes, it can rain in Marrakech (rarely in June to September) but a lot less and more infrequently than in all the other main European golf destinations. The rains, albeit rare, usually occur in the form of downpour or thunderstorm, and occasionally can be intense. The good news is that because the golf courses are not overly busy tee times can often be re-arranged on the day to take account of inclement weather.
SUN-SEEKERS
If, within your group there are committed sun worshippers then May, June and September are the best months when it is hot and sunny in the day and the evenings are warm and balmy. The good news is that due to its proximity to the Sahara it is a dry heat with low humidity and virtually no mosquitoes to worry about!
